Purr

Purr explores how to design for a user who can’t give verbal feedback. Shaped through observation of behaviour and interaction, the project focuses on creating a space that feels natural, comfortable, and inviting for cats. Developed in two directions, one inspired by Japanese joinery and rustic wood, the other by Bauhaus modernism, the design balances warmth and clarity through form and construction. As a flat-pack wooden kit, Purr uses a simple slot-together system that makes assembly intuitive and tool-free. Clear instructions and considered detailing ensure a smooth experience for first-time users. Purr turns a simple shelter into a small act of care, connecting people and their pets through thoughtful, purposeful design.
